This scene I watched was just way too funny to be ignored.
Kirk tries to explain Spock’s ears to a 1930’s policeman.
Kirk: My friend is obviously Chinese. I see you’ve noticed the ears, they’re actually easy to explain…
Spock: Perhaps the unfortunate accident I had as a child-
Kirk: The unfortunate accident he had as a child. He caught his head in a mechanical…rice picker. But fortunately there was an American missionary living close by who was actually a…skilled plastic surgeon.
Why am I utterly fascinated by and attracted to guys that are just way out of my league? [And I’m not just talking about those gaga-oh-lala celebrities.]
My mom’s old boss’ son is just one year older than me. She went on about his handsomely good looks and strong ambitions; it’s no wonder I became infatuated by words. Apparently I met him when we were wee kiddies, too. Seems like those awful “childhood friendship turned romantic after years of not seeing each other” shenanigans.
But imaginations of perfect beginnings have to end somewhere.
